Viacom Sued after Employee Caused DUI Crash

Back in August, a Viacom employee, leaving a premiere event drunk, crashed into another car. That car then hit a pedestrian waiting at the corner. That pedestrian was Noah Benardout. Jacob D. Gralitzer, the Viacom employee, was speeding through an intersection after leaving the premiere party for “Lights Out With David Spade.” The suit alleges that Viacom and Free 90 Media not only encourage employees to take advantage of their open bar but also encouraged them to drive to and from the function. The suit goes on to say that Viacom knew that Mr. Gralitzer was extremely intoxicated, but did nothing when learning he was driving home.

Mr. Gralitzer was arrested at the scene for gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence. The more shocking news is that Viacom managers knew and condoned Gralitzers excessive drinking, and then driving. Only one person at the party warned Gralitzer about drinking and driving. Of course, Gralitzer ignored the warning and tried to weave and swerve his way home. Instead of making it back home, he took another person’s life.
