Lawsuits Against Capital One are Underway.

Just a few days after Capital One announced they were victims of a hack that stole over 100 million peoples information, law firms have already started to file class-action lawsuits against the company. Firms are filing suits claiming to represent everyone who has been affected by the breach. The challenge alleges that Capital One failed to secure customers personal information.

How Did This Breach Happen?

A former Amazon employee named Paige Thompson has been accused of illegally accessing Capital One’s database of customers. It is currently unknown if Mrs. Thompson has sold or gave out anyone’s information. The accused software engineer apparently did very little to cover her tracks, and even boasted about the hack on social media. She apparently has been investigated before for threatening to shoot up a social media company in California. The name of the company has not been released.
