Hours ago, Ford announced that they will be recalling 547,538 if its Super Duty pickup trucks. This recall will affect cars across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. According to the recall, there is a risk of an interior fire starting after crashes. Ford says that the recall covers certain models between 2017 and 2019 with carpet flooring. The interior fire is believed to be started due to the seat belt pre-tensioner. The pre-tensioner deploys during a crash and might generate an excessive amount of sparks that could ignite a fire. The majority of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S. Only 852 of these models are in Mexico, and 56,112 are in Canada. The remaining 490,574 are in the U.S.

Ford will be informing the affected owners in the coming weeks, but have not announced when owners can expect to be contacted. If you have one of these affected vehicles, it is encouraged that you take the truck to your local dealership to get the issue fixed. If you’re not sure if your truck is affected, you can look up the status of your model’s recalls here.
