Toyota and Lexus Recall Expands to 1.8 Million Vehicles

Today, Toyota announced that 1.8 million of its cars have been affected by a fuel pump malfunction. The initial recall was first announced in January and only affected car models from 2018-2019. Now, car models going as far back as 2013 may be affected by this recall. This malfunction can cause the fuel pump to suddenly stop operating. If this does happen, it is possible that warning lights may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine might start to run rough. When this starts to happen, your vehicle might stall and will be unable to be restarted. If this stall occurs while driving at high speeds, this will greatly increase your risk of crashing.

Owners of the affected vehicles who weren’t included in the original recall notice on Jan. 13 will be notified by May. Below will be a list of affected vehicles. Alternatively, you can check your VIN number here to see if you’ve been affected. Affected customers will be able to visit their Toyota and Lexus dealers to have their fuel pump replaced with an improved model at no cost to them.
