Drunk Driver Crash on 1604 Leaves One Dead

According to SAPD, Tuesday night a one-car crash has left one person dead, and two others injured. The crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. by the Lockhill Selma and Loop 1604. All Eastbound lanes of 1604 were shut down as a result.

One of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle and was later announced dead at the scene. The second passenger was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Police initially thought the crash was the result of road rage, but later determined that the driver was drunk at the time of the crash. The driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. The names of the victims and suspect have not been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
